I strive to build a great reputation for myself. Referrals are important to me, from co-workers, managers, recruiters, account managers, and others. Being a contractor in the software engineer world I have found is all about building positive connections, and being able to interview well. I build positive connections by excelling at the requirements given me, being a team player, openly communicating, and being very personable. I enjoy every interview opportunity as a great way to meet new people, learn about projects, and better my interviewing skills.
I'm all about broadening my horizons. There is nothing out of my scope or range of learning. I am very focused, and I am able to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and techniques. I do an excellent job at following industry best practices, as well as group and company standards.
I consider myself a confident developer, but not arrogant. I am always open to input from others and bettering my own abilities and practices. I take ownership and responsibility for what I develop.
Test driven development is very important to me. A co-worker once said that "Test driven development only helps make mediocre developers better." Hilarious, as that came from one of the worse developers I have ever known. Unlike that developer I'm not about writing complex code. Simple, just enough to get the job done, and no more. If a first grader can read my code, I'd take that as the best compliment I could ever receive.
